Most of my pots are made from porcelain. (It makes the glaze shine.) They are wheel thrown and fired to 2400˚ Fahrenheit in a propane fueled kiln.
I make an assortment of lidded jars from pint sized to 5 gallon, each one very different from the next.
One of a kinds and small series is my method of production. I make enough simply functional pots to help fill the kiln around my one of a kinds. It would take me years to fill one kiln with only one of a kind pieces.
Since I make so few pots I make sure they serve their function well. Lids fit, spouts don’t dribble and mugs feel good against the lip.
